In a shocking incident, Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times during an attempted robbery at his home in Mumbai’s upscale Bandra neighborhood early Thursday morning.

The actor, 53, sustained six stab wounds during the attack, prompting immediate medical intervention. Dr. Niraj Uttamani of Lilavati Hospital revealed that Khan underwent emergency surgery to remove a 2.5-inch blade fragment lodged dangerously close to his spine. “He walked into the hospital despite his injuries, soaked in blood, like a lion,” Dr. Uttamani remarked, praising Khan’s resilience and calling him a “real hero.” Doctors confirmed that Khan is now out of danger, though his injuries were severe.

Indian media reports initially suggested that a suspect had been detained. However, conflicting accounts later emerged. According to the Indian Express, police clarified that the individual questioned at Bandra Police Station was not connected to the case, and the assailant remains at large.

The attack reportedly occurred around 3 a.m. The suspect gained access to Khan’s home using a fire escape and may have been assisted by a staff member. The incident unfolded when Khan confronted the intruder, leading to a scuffle. A house staff member, Ariyama Phillips, who raised the alarm, also sustained injuries during the altercation.

Khan’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their children were unharmed in the incident. In a statement, Kapoor’s representatives confirmed the safety of the rest of the family.

The shocking attack has sparked calls for improved security and better policing in Mumbai. Videos circulating online show officers escorting a man into a police station, though authorities later clarified the man’s involvement was unrelated to the case.
