Tehran, June 13, 2025 — The Israeli military has launched a large-scale offensive targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities in what it calls a direct response to escalating regional threats. The attacks mark a significant and dangerous turning point in the already strained relations between the two arch-rivals.
According to an official statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strikes were aimed at “critical infrastructure supporting Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities.” While Israel has long warned of Iran’s nuclear ambitions, this marks one of the most aggressive military actions taken by Israel within Iranian territory.

In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a grave warning, stating, “Israel must expect severe punishment for this crime.” He condemned the attacks, which reportedly killed several high-ranking Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists.
Iranian state media has reported explosions in parts of Tehran, with at least some residential buildings sustaining damage. In a precautionary move, authorities have suspended all flights at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport.
Despite growing international concern, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remained resolute, stating that the operation “will continue as long as necessary to neutralize the threat.”
The United States, a key Israeli ally, distanced itself from the operation. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that the U.S. had “no involvement in the strikes” and issued a stern warning to Tehran: “Any retaliation against American bases or personnel in the region will be met with a strong response.”
The international community is closely monitoring the situation, with fears of a broader regional conflict growing rapidly. Analysts warn that a tit-for-tat escalation between Israel and Iran could ignite a full-scale war with far-reaching consequences for the Middle East and beyond.
